Linda Robertson's Art, Workshops & Events

Hi friends,

My apologies for leaving you hanging after taunting you in my last email but I've been sick for weeks. It was nothing serious, just whatever crud was going around Portland. When I finally did leave the house I thought I was seeing things, but it was just SantaCon. Oh Portland.

Those of you who live nearby have had a good laugh at my missing voice, with someone even asking me to recite lines from The Godfather, which I must admit was hilarious. No matter, I am finally better and making myself heard again.

So what have I got to say for myself? Plenty! I'll break it up into a couple of newsletters since not everything is finalized yet, but I can make a couple of big announcements today...

As always, thanks for your interest and support,

Linda

P.S. I haven't forgotten to mention my online classes. I'll have news about them in the very next newsletter...

Paint with Me in New York

After an exciting workshop last year with many talented artists, Kathryn Bevier has invited me back to teach again in 2016. We are planning a 3-day class, running from September 16 - 18 in Kathryn's private studio in Rochester, NY.

This will be my only teaching trip to the east coast this year and space is limited so let me know if you're interested and you'll be the first to hear about it when registration opens next year.

Time for Some Fresh AIR
Leslie shares her inspiration for her latest encaustic painting at a recent meetup
Starting next month I'll join four other artists as a partner in the Artist in Residence (AIR) Gallery in Portland, Oregon. How's that for a great start to the new year?

We envision the AIR Gallery to be an evolving arts destination where a variety of events will be held. Currently we have meetups, classes, demonstrations, poetry readings and book launches already in the works, and will announce our new web site soon!

Mark your calendars now for our regular openings on the third Saturday of every month from 5 - 9 pm, when you can visit all of the galleries on the top floor of Pioneer Place at the same time. Pioneer Place, 700 SW 5th Ave., Portland, Oregon.

Photo Encaustic Workshops in OR

I've just opened registration for most of the classes in my Portland, Oregon studio through June. I'll be adding some brand new classes to the list in the next couple of weeks so those will be highlighted in my next newsletter.

If you need any last minute shopping ideas check out my gift certificates! Once you buy them online I can email them to you in as little as a few hours if you're, you know, freaking out... :)

5-Day Wax Week Classes

I'm thrilled that the first round of my wildly popular 5-day Wax Week classes will focus on my favorite ways to combine encaustic & photography. This is one of my favorite classes because there are so many wonderful ways to transform your photographs with wax!

There will be two sessions offered: May 2 - 6 (with 4 spots left) and May 16 - 20 (only 1 spot left!). I only accept 6 students per class to ensure lots of private mentoring, so these workshops tend to sell out quickly.

Less Teaching but More Painting

The biggest change you'll see in my schedule next year is that I'll be painting more and teaching less.

So if you see a class you've been wanting to take, don't hesitate! If you miss it you may have to wait another year before it's offered again. Why? I have several show opportunities coming up, along with my involvement with the AIR Gallery so I'm making much more time in my schedule to paint and experiment with new work. This is what I've been longing for so I'm really excited to see how my work changes with much more concentrated time in the studio.

I promise to share my progress with you here in the coming year if you'd like to come along for the ride!
