Making Encaustic Medium & Paint

TBD. 1 - 4 pm, $125
Location: Portland, Oregon
**I only teach this a few times a year so don't miss it**

This is not a painting class, but it will prepare you to safely make your own encaustic medium and paint at home, saving you buckets of money!

Here's the easiest way to save money on encaustic painting: Make your own encaustic medium! In this class we'll cook up a big batch of medium (beeswax and resin) and I'll demonstrate how to use that as a base to make encaustic paint using different materials for color. Everyone will make/take home 3 tins of encaustic paint and some encaustic medium.

I'll provide most the supplies including all the beeswax and resin, but I'll have you bring a 2 colors you want to mix and let you choose another one from my private stash. The 2 colors you bring will likely cost around $10 each (or as much as you like) depending on what type of pigment and colors you choose to purchase. We will only use a small portion of the colors you bring, so you'll have plenty more to work with at home. This class easily pays for itself considering the amount of paint you take home, and how much money these new skills will save you.

Confirmation, directions to my studio and additional information will be emailed to each student upon registration. Space is limited to 4 students so this class fills quickly.
